CH. Ravenmasque Arika d'Bergique HIC

Little Lily is our resident blonde. She is a happy, charming, opinionated, loving, silly young lady. Somehow she has been uncommonly attractive to countless individuals who look at her mile-wide smile, her happy, prancing gait, her constantly wagging tail and just melt. If she had a famous quote it would have to be "You had me at hello".

Lily, as a 13 week old puppy, chose her own name in no uncertain terms. I watched this little spitfire being born. She is the daughter of my male, Dite, who was bred to an extremely pretty girl, CH. Ravenmasque Illusive Vision, who is a grand-daughter of one of my all time favourite boys, s.r. UKC GR CH U-AG1 Jairouk De La Fureur Du Crepuscule, PT JHD, through his son, UKC Ch AG1 Omega du Bois du Tôt (Imp France) CL1-R,F,H,S CGC/TDI, both grays. So I was there for the whelping, to watch Dite’s babies being born. She came out last, but definitely not quietly. This has been her way ever since. No one can say that Lily is quiet or that she’s low energy. As a baby I tried a call name of Sparkle, because she certainly did just that. But the word just wouldn’t come out quickly or spontaneously when I tried using it at home. One cold night, out yet again for a pee-break, I called her a silly lilly puppy. Her head snapped back to look at me so fast you could almost hear a cartoon-like audible snap. I said "Lily?" and sure enough, that was just the name my sparkly puppy wanted. Therefore I had to find a registered name that would relate to her self-proclaimed call name. Between Sheila’s Ravenmasque and my Bergique I had 7 spaces left and we wanted it to start with "A". I finally found the aboriginal word for water-lily; Arika.

Her championship was quite easily acquired over the course of about a year. She started out with a bang. At six months and a day she went BPISS at our regional specialty show. She got four Best of Breeds on her way to her title. She also went Group 3 at the 2005 Georgina Kennel & Obedience Club show.

Her work ethic is wonderful. She loves to work for praise and treats. Her obedience is extraordinary, she is typically Belgian in Rally-O training, acting like this was created for her happiness. She has been learning agility this summer and shines in this venue as well. She achieved her Herding Instinct Certificate in the spring of 2007 with a quiet style that just stunned those who know her. There will be many successes in this girl’s future. I’m not rushing her, she may be 2.5 years old, but she’s still growing up, so I’ll let her joie-de-vivre continue to shine through her sparkling eyes.
