CH. Winjammer's Headfirst, CD, HIC, TT, CGC, CGN St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog
Trixie came to me when all I needed was to be able to hold something soft, furry, and Terv-ish. She was born on February 27th, 2000, thirteen days after the fire and also my daughter's birthday, to the wonderful Jenny du Crepuscule des Loups and Hades du Bois du Tot. I had arranged to use Hades on my younger female, Ch. Yesac's Whole Lotta Rosey CGC when she came into her next heat, which would have been June of 2000. But when she was taken from me, Pat (Winjammer) and Sophie (Bois du Tot) agreed that I could have my pick of the Hades litters that were available at the time. I drove to Michigan when Trixie's litter was four and a half weeks old and picked her out of a litter of seven gorgeous puppies.
Trixie has taken me to many and new places. She achieved her Companion Dog obedience title in three tries, she plays at agility with a kind of slow and steady pace, we took herding classes for about a year, she loves Rally-O, she passed her Temperament Test without any problems, she has traveled with me to Kentucky, Michigan and New Brunswick. She has shown in UKC where she was consistently graded as Excellent. She loved showing in conformation and one time won out over thirteen lovely entries in the Open Female classes. But visiting at the local nursing home is where she truly shines. Her lovely, liquid black eyes and smiling demeanour attract the folks, and her gentle manner and soft coat give them something to communicate with. She doesn't stay long with each person, just a quick nudge, a nice pat on the head, and she's on to the next. But she will pick a favourite and spend extra time with him or her, depending on what they need from her.
Her main function in life - her 'raison d'etre' - is to hold down the blankets on my bed. You just never know when those pesky things will just get up and run away - and Trixie has made it her mission to make sure that this never happens. She is diligent in her efforts - and I am proud to say that not one single blanket has ever gotten away!!
Trixie is a medium sized, fine boned girl, full dentition with a full scissors bite. Her eyes are very dark, her coat is thick and lush, her colour is a warm brown, not a lot of red, with a complement of charbonnage. She was spayed in 2005. She has been certified clear of hip and elbow dysplasia by the University of Guelph, has tested clear of any eye defects and at seven years old, has never seizured. She is calm and quiet in the house, but suffers from thunder and fireworks sensitivities.
My hope is that Trixie continues to grace my life with her beauty and grace for many, many years to come.
